Jason McCoy has won the best global country artist award by the Country Music Association. He'll receive his award during the organization's music festival in June. The singer-songwriter from Minesing, Ont., had been up against Nova Scotia's George Canyon, John Brack of Switzerland and Adam Harvey of Australia. "I'm honoured to be nominated with such world-class talent, and truly humbled to have won this distinction," McCoy said Thursday of the award. "I'm very proud to be a Canadian, and proud to make my living as a country artist. Country music belongs to the people, whichever country they live in." McCoy's repertoire includes Born Again in Dixieland, Ten Million Teardrops, and Still. He's currently the front man of the Road Hammers. Previous recipients of the global award include Canadian Paul Brandt and Australian Kasey Chambers.
I'm waiting for a repeat winner in Lee Kernaghan. He won the very first one in 2003 and is so deserving to win it again ... and again ... and again. Lee is phenomenal and gives so much back to his fans.
