My Gary Allan weekend!

Well now that my weekend is over and I finally have got back to my more normal life-I'll post a review of my Gary weekend. First and foremost, that man has so much strength to be doing what he is doing-wow! Just love him for it!

Friday when we checked into our hotel we find out that Gary and the guys are staying at the same one! Yeah! We're all excited about this (Pam, Melissa from Iowa, & Jenn), but our bigger moment is yet to come! We're all ready and leaving our room when Jenn spots Gary waiting for the elevator!! The door opens and she grabs his arm-crazy-and asks if we could ride down the elevator with him. He said sure! We all get into this little elevator and he asks us "How are you ladies doing?" wub.gif We're like great, good. Pam asks are you ready to play for us tonight and he says after a few cups of coffee. Pam says coffee? He's like or something... smilie_einsch1.gif Then Melissa from IA asks to see his new tattoo-wow is that thing sweet! It is beautiful! Then the dang elevator door came open!!! sad.gif He was like have a great time tonight, we're like we will and we sure did!!! It's bad when we get there @ 4 to get in line (doors open @ 7pm) and it's 2 for 1 night! doh.gif Oye! But we made it thru waiting in line-met some other GREAT Gary fans!! We got the 3rd row of seats for our group-by the end of the show, we were all just in a bunch! Opening act was great! Then Gary came on-he was wearing the leather jacket!! wub.gif Sang Right Where I Need To Be-then took the jacket off, we were all screaming maniacs!!! He played for 2 1/2 hours!! He played a new one called Things are Tough All Over-on the new CD, Alright Guy, Songs About Rain, Man to Man, Tough Little Boys, Smoke Rings in the Dark, What's on My Mind (wouldn't I love to know!!), I Don't Look Back, Showman's Life, Best I Ever Had-new release, didn't do acoustically, got thru it great! Don't Leave Her Lonely, Her Man, He Can't Quit Her-on the new CD more likely not to be released-very sexy, great song!, Loving You Against My Will, It Would Be You, Nothing On But the Radio, Just Can't Do It Today, Runaway (Jake & Eddie do such great rockin' before this song starts!!), Drinkin' Dark Whiskey, Wake Up Screaming- drool.gif , Man Of Me, & Billy the Kid-if you can't tell I swiped the set list! No one was on stage saying "Swiper no Swiping! Swiper no swiping!" It was supposedly Eddie's birthday-guitar player-so we sang Happy Birthday to Eddie and of course Gary sang his version of Happy Birthday!! When he gets to the part, I hope you get some cake and ice cream, he pauses-a very long pause, then gets this devilish grin on his face-OYE! It was so much fun that nite. I got to meet up with the band and have my pic taken, also with his merch guy Jimbo and his mgr Jeff. No Gary tho' but hey, I had my elevator ride!
Now let's move to Ft. Yates and Saturday nite!! We weren't as close to the front at first (I get to the front no matter what-esp. when Gary invites us down!) Pretty much the same set list except this time he adds a song he wrote called Putting Memories Away. OMG cry.gif -I'll post the lyrics at the bottom. He told us how he'd had a hard year and he found himself going around the house taking down pics and things like that and that he wrote this song. Then right before he starts, he takes the back of his hand and wipes away tears! cry.gif The song is great-half way between he pulls his hat down farther. As he finishes the song, we all stand to our feet-stay that way for a few moments. He takes his hat off, tips it at us, turns his back, stays that way for a few moments, wipes away more tears, puts his hat back on, turns around, thanks us and starts the next song. He totally amazes me! Had a great time that night as well! A weekend I'll never forget!!

Putting Memories Away... sung by Gary Allan live

I threw our rings into a box, filled with broken memories in fool's gold

And I woke up again last night in this lonely bed without you to hold\

And I walked around this house pulling pictures off the walls

Like I've done a hundred times before making sure I've got them all

{Chorus} Making sure I've got the hard to find little things that make me think of you

Because I'm tired of this house always breaking me down feeling blue

No, there's nothing left to say, I'm putting memories away

Yesterday I found your dress I guess there's some things I missed in our room

But it didn't break me down the second that I found it like it used to

With red wine and tears I"ve been gathering all the years we spent together

I need to move on because I know that you're gone forever

{Chorus} Making sure I've got the hard to find little things that make me think of you

Because I'm tired of this house always breaking me down feeling blue

No, there's nothing left to say, I'm putting memories away

thanks for the review ~  I tell ya it's sad to me just reading the lyrics to the song, I cant begin to imagine how much strength it takes to sing it live.

It was amazing-he came back, went right into the next song, smiled & joked with the guys and the crowd.
