November 1, 2005 (NASHVILLE, TN) - Keith Urban’s first full-length concert DVD, Livin’ Right Now, has been certified Platinum, according to the RIAA. Platinum certification for long-form DVDs and videos occurs when sales reach 100,000 units.
“The fact that Keith's DVD actually shipped beyond platinum certification is a rare event for a long-form music video,” said Bill Kennedy, VP Sales of Capitol Records Nashville. “Truly this is validation for the awesome live show Keith delivers to his fans night after night,” he added.
Shot last year in Los Angeles during Urban’s two-night stint at the Wiltern Theater, the two-hour DVD, filmed in high definition and available in 5.1 surround sound, features a wide selection of Urban’s music, including all six of his #1 singles. In addition to the 18 songs on Livin’ Right Now, the DVD also features behind the scenes footage including Urban at sound check and personal perspectives from Urban about his music.
Also this week: “Better Life,” the latest single from Keith Urban, continues its ride at the top of the country music charts, logging its fourth week at the #1 slot on the BILLBOARD Hot Country Singles Chart.
Urban’s “Alive In 05’” tour continues to roll throughout the U.S., as well. The 39-date tour, presented by SBC Communications, runs through mid-December with stops across the country including Denver, Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix and St. Paul, among others. The artist just recently returned from his whirlwind, sold-out "Days Go By" tour of the UK and Germany, performing 9 shows in just 11 days in such cities as London, Dublin, Glasgow, Hamburg, Berlin, Koln, and Munich.
Next up for Urban - a live performance on the nationally televised CMA Awards, which airs live Tuesday, Nov. 15 from New York City's famed Madison Square Garden. Last year’s Male Vocalist of the Year, Urban is also nominated for that honor this year, as well as Video of the Year (“Days Go By”), Album of the Year (Be Here) and the highly-coveted Entertainer of the Year award.
