Country music singer, Clay Walker has finally found the courage to speak out against a disease he has discovered he shares with many.
Walker had dreamed of being a country music star from a young age. He saw his dream become a reality in 1993 when he released his debut album and saw it reach billboard success. With 11 number one singles and five number one videos, Walker is a major force in the country music field. In 1996, at the age of 26, Walker hit a speed bump in his career when doctors diagnosed him with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Walker had just completed his fourth album, and his first daughter had just been born. He had been experiencing numbness, tingling, double vision, muscle weakness, and facial spasms, which led him to seek medical attention. "I was devastated." Walker said. "When I first found out that I had MS, I was afraid to speak about it, I didn't want to tell anyone." Walker said he realized right away that it would be up to him to take responsibility for his health and take an active role in managing the disease. "You can't play catch up with this disease," Walker said. "You just have to do whatever you can do to manage it."
